Students have several options when taking courses at ChristianCourses.com. Three categories of courses are available.
Category 1. Free courses
We have two types of free courses.
There are courses we call FastTrax courses. These are ONLY available as free courses. They are, for the most part, shorter courses with fewer assignments that need to be done. A few of the courses are only in the FastTrax category because those courses have not yet been approved for the certificate program. No continuing education certificates are available for these courses.
We also have the non-certificate program courses. Like the FastTrax courses, these are tuition free. All of the non-certificate courses (that are not FastTrax courses) are also offered as certificate courses. The non-certificate courses are identical in content to our certificate courses, but are offered free of charge for students who don't need or want the certificate of completion.
Category 2. Certificate program courses (payment required)
We began collecting a certificate fee for our certificate courses February 1, 2009. These courses, though identical in content to our non-certificate courses, have a final exam. Once the course has been completed, we check student records to be sure the work was done and the student has a grade of 70% or higher. Once the course has been validated, the student can print the certificate of completion. These courses are formally accepted by ACSI for continuing education credits needed by teachers in ACSI’s program. Other organizations accept the certificates of completion without a formal agreement between ChristianCourses.com and the organization.
Category 3. Graduate courses (Institute of Theological Studies)(payment required)
We've just added another option: courses from the Institute of Theological Studies. ITS has been offering distance learning since the 1970's. Their courses are graduate level courses, and there are schools that accept the ITS courses for college credit. They're not free, but they're inexpensive compared to college or seminary tuition based on all you get from these courses. Take a look at the syllabi for these courses to get an idea of the depth of these courses.
ITS courses are not online courses. The lectures are on audio CDs that will be sent to the student. We’re working on downloadable versions of the lectures for the future.
